Compose for Calm: Nature-Inspired Music Competition

Anxiety UK invites entries for this year’s music competition, focused on the calming influence of nature on anxiety. 

This initiative aims to raise awareness about the therapeutic connection between non-vocal music (of any genre), nature, and anxiety relief.

 
Entrants are challenged to create short (no longer than 2 minutes), original pieces, inspired by the beauty, tranquillity, and the restorative power of the natural world, showcasing how non-vocal sound can soothe the mind, promote relaxation and reduce anxiety. Open to all genres and styles, this competition seeks to highlight the transformative role of creativity in mental well-being. Your non-vocal music could make a real difference in supporting those struggling with anxiety.
 
All entries must be submitted by 12 noon on Friday 9th May 2025 via email to: [email protected]
Anxiety UK reserves the right to close the competition early in the event a high number of submissions are received.
 
 
                                                                               Terms and Conditions (T&Cs)
  1. Originality: All submissions must be original compositions created solely by the entrant and must not be created using AI tools or software. Plagiarised, AI-generated, or previously published works will not be accepted.
  2. Ownership Rights: By submitting your composition, you agree to transfer full ownership rights of the piece to Anxiety UK who may use the music in its services, campaigns, and other work supporting people with anxiety.
  3. Eligibility: The competition is open to all individuals regardless of musical experience or background. Entrants must be aged 18 years and over.
  4. Submission Format: Entries must be submitted in MP3 format and should not exceed 2 minutes.
  5. Judging Criteria: Submissions will be judged on creativity, emotional impact, and alignment with the theme of nature’s power to soothe anxiety. The judges’ decision is final. Winners (top 3 entries) will be announced during Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (Monday 12th – 16th May 2025).
  6. Prizes: Winning entries may be featured in the charity’s campaigns or events, with appropriate acknowledgment given to the composer. No monetary prizes will be awarded.
  7. Deadline: All entries must be submitted by however Anxiety UK reserves the right to close the competition early in the event a high number of submissions are received. Late submissions will not be considered.
  8. Usage Rights: The charity reserves the right to modify or adapt submitted compositions for its purposes while maintaining the integrity of the original work.
  9. Agreement: By entering this competition, participants agree to these terms and conditions in full and Anxiety UK’s general Ts and Cs.
