Genetic Links to Anxiety & Depression

Exciting opportunity to engage in anxiety/depression research Depression and anxiety are common but complex disorders whose research needs very large sample sizes. The Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression (GLAD) study launches this September and aims to recruit >40,000 individuals. Anyone age 16 years or older who has experienced anxiety or depression during their lives can join this recontactable database to facilitate future research. Participants will also join a national Mental Health BioResource and contribute to the largest ever single study of anxiety and depression. How can I take part? All enrollment takes place online at our website, www.gladstudy.org.uk. An online animation explains the consent process with more detailed information in text format. Once you have provided consent and completed an online questionnaire you will be sent a saliva DNA sample kit to enable genetic studies. We really hope you will join us in this important endeavour. Understanding the impact of adverse life experiences on mental health difficulties, OCD, PTSD and anxiety

We are conducting this research to understand more about different life experiences and the role in mental health difficulties. So far, there is very little scientific evidence on how different life experiences are connected to a range of mental health symptoms. Without this evidence, it is extremely difficult to develop effective support and help provided by services, clinicians, commissioners and charities. Our research hopes to build evidence to help those struggling with mental health difficulties.  We are looking to recruit individuals who identify as having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Our study has received ethical approval from the University of Oxford Central University Research Ethics Committee (CUREC) (Approval Number: R89339/RE001). The study comprises a short phone call to see if this study is right for you and an online survey. The following link has further detail relating to our study: https://oxicptr.web.ox.ac.uk/help-our-research#collapse4570501 Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in participating or would like some further information. Ends April 2025

Examining the Role of the Mind-Body Connection in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Symptoms

Researchers from Victoria University would like to hear from adults (18+) with symptoms of OCD who are interested in taking part in research on the relationship between the mind-body connection and the sensory experiences that often accompany compulsions. It is hoped that this research will provide insight into these ‘sensory phenomena’ to guide the development of future alternative treatments for OCD that directly address the mind-body connection. Participation will involve a confidential online survey (~30 minutes) that will ask about your obsessive-compulsive symptoms, any sensory experiences that may trigger or accompany your compulsions, and your mind-body connection, including how you use your bodily sensations to guide your behaviour.   To take part or learn more, click on the link below or contact student researcher, Lizzie Wilson: [email protected] Survey link: https://vuau.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8zYpWHuGNpAksKi Ends 1st May 2025

The fear of losing control

We are researchers at the University of Oxford seeking participants to help us better understand the relationship between fear of losing control and anxiety. We are looking for participants who experience either: OCD, or Panic, or No mental health difficulties You do not need to live in Oxford to participate in this study, as it consists of a 15-minute telephone call followed by a 20-minute online questionnaire. From this research, we hope to develop a greater understanding of factors that may contribute to the development and maintenance of OCD and panic, with the hope of tailoring and improving treatments. If this is something that interests you, please contact Joel Lewin at [email protected] You can also find more information, as well as the participant information sheet, on our website: www.bit.ly/losingcontrolinfo
We would be very grateful for your support.
