Volunteering on the Helpline at Anxiety UK is a rewarding and varied experience for anyone interested in working within the field of mental health and looking to learn skills in customer service and administration.

As the first point of call for those seeking help for their anxiety, you will be providing people with information on how to manage their condition, and signposting them to other avenues of support.

Requirements for the role.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to provide empathetic listening (not counselling) to callers looking for support
  • Have an understanding of/interest in anxiety disorders
  • Be reliable and committed to the role
  • Provide information on anxiety, Anxiety UK services and related issues
  • Must be over the age of 18.
  • Have a Windows or Mac system (i.e. not a tablet/chromebook) to run the call software on
  • Have a quiet space to answer calls confidentially
  • Reliably commit to a set 4 hour shift (same time each week) shift of either 10:15-14:15 or 12:45-16:45

This role is remote, so you will be volunteering from home. To volunteer on the Helpline you must be able to commit to a fixed 4 hour shift each week for a minimum of six months. Please be aware that our service runs on Monday-Friday between the hours of 10.30am-4.30pm with shorter bank holiday shifts.
